La Crosse Technology® atomic clocks do not receive or process radio controlled time signals from Germany’s DCF 77, Japan’s J Ga AS, or England’s MSFs atomically regulated transmitters.
QUESTION: HOW DO YOU CONNECT FOR OUTDOOR TEMP, IF ANY?
• From the manual: 1. Insert batteries into the Wireless Outdoor Temperature Sensor first - it is important that you do not insert the batteries into the Atomic Clock yet. 2. You must insert the batteries into the Atomic Clock within 3 minutes of inserting the batteries into the Sensor. 3. Slide out the battery compartment lid at the bottom of the Outdoor Sensor. 4. Insert the batteries into the Outdoor Sensor first, observing the correct polarity (see markings inside battery compartment). Replace the battery holder on the unit. 5. Immediately after and within 3 minutes, insert the batteries into the Atomic Clock, observing the correct polarity (see markings inside battery compartment). Replace the battery cover. The Atomic Clock uses 2 x AA batteries ( IEC LR6, 1.5V ). 6. The outdoor temperature and the signal reception ic on should be displayed on the Atomic Clock. If this does not happen after 3 minutes, the batteries will need to be removed from both units and re-inserted, following the instructions above. I performed the installation in the house, the clock displayed the outside temperature. I placed the thermometer in a place where the sun does not shine on it. If it didn't, I suggest trying again, remove the clock batteries first, remove the thermometer batteries, wait about a minute or two, and try again. If it doesn't work, return it as being defective.
• I don't know mine will not work I have tried the instructions still does not work
• I put mine in between the window and the screen but when the sun shines right on it , it gets extremely hot. I need to find a better way also.
• The unit comes with an outdoor sensor.
#lacrosseQUESTION: IS IT POSIBLE TO MESURE TEMPERATURE IN CELSIUS DEGREES?
• yes you can choose between c and f when setting clock
• Yes. Download the manual, https://www.lacrossetechnology.com/products/resources/misc/8115-manual.pdf, page 7; 11. Set Temperature Mode - °F or °C: Press the 'SET' button an eleventh time and the Temperature Mode abbreviation will flash. Use the 'PLUS' button to set the temperature mode to °F or °C.
#lacrosseQUESTION: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO WS-8115U-S BESIDES THE BIG DIFFERENCE IN RATINGS AND $18 PRICE TAG DIFFERENCE?
• Ptobably just the Vendor selling it and maybe the difference in shipping costs
• The difference I believe is the face of the clock. I love my LaCrosse clocks, I have 6 of them. However, plan on getting two outdoor temperature sensors as they seem to go out frequently and need replacement.
• That's probably correct, different vendors or perhaps....some vendors like to pull a trick...they will put a lower price tag on an item, then jack up the shipping in order to lure you in. As far as the ratings go, everyone has different opinions based upon their own use and perhaps how their performances were prefered in the first place. Some folks have expected 'A' and got 'Z' instead, etc.
• I have not compared the two, so I am no help to you. Just make sure you get one with all you want on the face and in big enough numbers to suit you.
• Same model number, same item. One is priced higher than the other.
• If I remember correctly, I think they are the same but sold by different 'associates.' I believe I bought the one carried by Amazone (cheaper). A lot of Amazone's 'associates' probably don't check if their prices are competitive or not, but you as a customer should!
• I am not sure why, if they are the same model #, We always purchase La Crosse weather stations. This one has been our favorite due to the larger numbers, makes it easier to read from a distance. This is our second model, the sensors have to be replaced about once a year. Just shop til you find the best price...
#lacrosseQUESTION: IS THIS SUPPOST TO HAVE AN OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE SENSOR
• Yes, it does have an outside sensor that works well. Two AAA batteries.
• Eddy...Yes there is an outside sensor included.
• yes - but - I have had this clock in the past and been happy with it. Ordered one recently and it didn't work at all from day one. Have one in my daughters room that has started eating batteries so I can't recommend it at all anymore.
#lacrosseQUESTION: AFTER 5 MONTHS SINCE ORIGINAL PURCHASE, OUTDOOR SENSOR STOPPED WORKING. IS THERE A WARRANTY?
• I don't think these outdoor sensors are very good.Location is everything. I tried several places outside before I could find a place that seems to work. The signal would come and go.
• I had exactly the same issue (sensor was completely under cover but just died). I contacted Amazon & they gave a full refund & did not want the clock or sensor returned. I would contact them, I believe they have a very good customer care team!
• I was told by someone who tried to get a new unit and was told 'No such warranty existed' I think they just sold a few units and shut the door. No one I know has even received a response of any kind.
• Like the other people who unfortunately purchased this piece of 'JUNK' You now own it. As far as I know no-one has been able to contact this company or recover their losses.
• I wouldn't be able to suggest anything except.....throw the piece of junk in the trash can. It was by far, the most worthless item I have ever purchased from Amazon.
• This product is by far...the most over-rated piece of junk I have purchased through Amazon. As far as I'm concerned, it isn't worth the cost of sending it back. it isn't worth the cost to send it back
• Yes, but the company is worthless when it comes to customer service. After about 10 phone calls and hours of wasted time. I have up. Better to but it at a local store
#lacrosseQUESTION: WHAT ARE THE DIMENSIONS OF THE CLOCK? WHY YOUR ANSWERS ARE DIFFERENT ON DIMENTIONS AND SIZE OF THE CLOCK?
• 0.8x9x9.2
• The clock is 7 1/2 by 9 inches. Love the clock but the outside thermostat has quit working.
• I can only guess that some people give the actual DISPLAY size, and some - the overall dimensions. I was trying to find out the screen size, so I guess it should be some 5x8 inches
#lacrosseQUESTION: THE OUTSIDE THERMOMETER DOES NOT WORK. WE HAVE CHANGED BATTERIES. WHAT DO WE DO?
• I cant get mine to work either. Tried everything!
• move the outside receiver to a totally different location.
• I think you change/remove the batteries in the remote sensor then the clock, this should get you set up. If this does not work try using a paper clip to reset both units through the reset holes. Good luck.
• My outside temp quit also. Will try resetting it with a paper clip. I tried changing the battery and I have not had the clock all that long
• From page 1 of the manual (https://www.lacrossetechnology.com/products/resources/misc/manual-8115.pdf) Get Started Step 1: Insert 2 fresh AAA, Alkaline batteries into the X38U-IT-N sensor. Observe the correct polarity. Step 2: Insert 2 fresh AA, Alkaline batteries into the atomic clock. Observe the correct polarity. Restart: If the outdoor temperature shows dashes, remove batteries from the station & outdoor sensor. Press any button on the station 20 times. After 15 minutes, return to Step 1
#lacrosseQUESTION: WHAT IS THE SIZE OF THE DISPLAY AREA? THE SIZE OF THE ARE INSIDE THE BLACK BORDER?
• I do not know the measurements, but it is easy to see during the day.
• Its a Pretty Decent size. I can read it from 40-50 foot away.
• Sorry I can't give you the dimensions because I bought the clock as a gift for a friend. However, I will have him measure it and tell you tomorrow. I would say it is at least 4 x 6. Very readable.
#lacrosse• I've gone through several sets of batteries (maybe every 6 months? a very ROUGH guess from my memory). You will know the batteries are getting low as the display will become washed out (to about 25% contrast), and you have to look at it from straight ahead, not an angle. It looks that way for about 2-3 days and then it goes blank. Now the caution: When you replace the batteries, The outdoor sensor has to be already functioning before you replace the wall-unit's batteries, or the wall unit won't reconnect. Read the manual.
• Just replace a new battery and it will be fine make sure you buy a brand new wall clock not a used one
• I don't know what happens when the battery dies and I didn't see anything in the instruction manual either. I replace the batteries in my smoke detectors every Halloween and I replace all clock batteries at the same time. That solves the problem for me because I've never had a clock battery fail within one year of installation.
#lacrosse• Yes, it comes with two little brackets that swing out at the bottom in the back to allow this to sit on the counter.
• No, it comes with hardware to hang on the wall.
• yes, but mine stopped keeping the right time after 3 months
• No it does not, it is just a wall hanger.
#lacrosseQUESTION: DOES IT HAVE A POWER CORD FOR A WALL OUTLET INCLUDED OR DOES IT JUST USE BATTERIES? CAN YOU SEE THE TIME IN THE DARK?
• It uses batteries which last at least a year, more like 2 years or more. No, you can't see it at night. The best thing is that it is ALWAYS accurate to the second and you don't have to adjust when the time changes as it does this automatically. It also has calendar features and temp. depending on the model. I have 3 of this model and 2 other atomic clocks. One of this model works in my tractor shed, even through the winter.
• Only Batteries, and no you cannot see it in the dark
• Just batteries. Gets quite a bit of life out of a set of batteries. And no, you can't see the time in the dark. You need to have some light in the room in order to read this clock. It needs reflected light to be read.
#lacrosse• The clock is 7 inches by 8 1/2 inches.
• It is about 9' by 7' and that includes about a 3' border around the clock face. My only wish would be for the clock face to be back lit to be easier to see. But I love it. My neighbor also got one.
#lacrosseQUESTION: HOW TO TURN OFF ALARM AND IS THERE A SNOOZE?
• To activate or deactivate the daily alarms, briefly press the 'ALARM' button once. When the alarm is active the clock displays the alarm icon below the word 'ALARM'. When deactivated, the alarm icon does not display. Yes. The Snooze function can be interrupted by pressing any button. The answers were copied from the PDF manual I have, the PDF is easier to read than the paper manual. It is better than the Online resource to the manual: http://www.lacrossetechnology.com/8115. It has similar answers, just not as detailed.
• Follow the instructions and it is EZ to turn off alarm, I do not know about the snooze button. We hang ours on the wall and not EZ to turn off, we never set alarm for ours. Good Luck.
#lacrosseQUESTION: DOES THIS ATOMIC CLOCK WORK IN HAWAII'S TIME ZONE?
• It should. There is a government time server in Hawaii (WWVH) and this clock can pick up its frequency.
• To be honest with you, I really don't think the clock knows where it is. Point it towards Colorado until the correct time registers. You should be fine.
#lacrosseQUESTION: WHAT ARE THE DIMENSIONS OF THE ACTUAL CLOCK?
• The face inside the black frame is 3.5 in. X 5 in. Works very well and the outside thermometer also works
• From La Crosse website: Dimensions: Receiver: 8.9' x 1.2' x 7.1' Sensor: 1.28' x 3.41' x 0.56'
• I gave this clock away as a gift. The person I gave it to loves it, but I cannot give you the dimensions. Sorry.
• The unit is 225mm (9.0') wide & 178mm (7.0') high. The display (liquid crystal) is, 130mm (5.1') wide & 82mm (3.3') high. Hope this helps?
• Mine is a little different layout but has all the same info across the bottom. It's about 7x9. I have two units from Lacrosse and they are great.
#lacrosse• I wouldn't recommend that it be mounted outdoors, in fact the outside unit that monitors outside temperature quit working within a day of mounting outside.
• I am not sure. The remote sensor is mounted outdoors but under the eves or somewhere out of the rain.
• As far as I know only the sensor goes outdoors.
#lacrosseQUESTION: CAN I SET THE TIME ZONE TO GMT/UCT AND NOT JUST ONE OF THE 4 US TIMEZONES? ALSO, CAN I TURN OFF DST SINCE THAT IS NEVER USED FOR 'ZULU' TIME? THANKS?
• The clock can be set to any timezone. The DST function can be turned off. The clock uses the US government shortwave radio station WWV in Fort Collins, Colorado for its time signal.
• You can set it for GMT by pushing the PLUS button until the time zone is 0 (zero). But that may stop it from getting updates from WWVB; when set it for time zone zero, the clock thinks it's in England and tries to listen at the wrong time for best reception.
• Contact La Crosse Tech Support listed on your setup instructions...
• You can turn off DST but I don't believe you can set it on GMT.
#lacrosse• About 9 inches by 7 inches. Maybe 1/2 - 3/4' thick.
• Hi Patricia!!! The overall dimensions are...8-7/8'wide x 7' high x 1' deep... Richard
• I bought this as a gift and it is no longer in my possession.
#lacrosseQUESTION: I LIVE IN NEW YORK WILL IT CHANGE ITS TIME TO NEW YORK TIME?
• Yes, the clock will allow you to change the time setting for the time zone that you are in. The directions give those instructions.
• The one I had didn't and I'm in your time zone.
• yes. you set the time zone you want. Yes. You set the time zone you want to see on the screen. Easy to set up.
• Yes. In the set-up of the clock you can change to any U.S. time zone.
• yes if you set to DST
• Once you select your time zone (eastern standard) it will adjust to the correct time.
• Yes, It has settings for all the time zones and directions how to set it where you live.
#lacrosse• It is approximately 9' wide by 7' tall.
• The outer dimensions of the clock are 9 inches wide by 71/2 inches high.
• dimensions are approx. 9' wide x 7 1/4' height.
#lacrosseQUESTION: HOW DO YOU CORRECT THE WRONG TIME?
• There are instruction on setting it manually. But to be perfectly honest the only time I had to set it was the day it came in the mail, it has been great ever since. If Someone gave you the clock and you don't have the instructions you can fund the manual on line.
• There are buttons on the back that must be used. I don't have the clock in front of me but thee should be a clock button, as you click it it goes from one setting (time, date, day, etc) and then use the plus to increase the date and time to desired time, etc. You can also go to the website for LaCrosse and they may have pics. The customer service is very useful.
#lacrosseQUESTION: CAN THE CLOCK BE SET TO DISPLAY '24 HOUR TIME'?
• yes
• Yes it can. either way is possible. Temp in C or F I've had 3 of these and the out door temp doesn't work on any of them. I rate them with about a 5-. I only keep buying them because of the big read out. My eyes are really bad.
#lacrosseQUESTION: IS THERE A WAY TO MAKE SECONDS SHOW INSTEAD OF DAY OF THE WEEK? MY OTHER LA CROSSE ATOMIC CLOCKS ALLOW THIS DURING SETUP.
• The seconds on my La Cross WS-8115U has the Seconds showing to the right of the Minutes...I find that the Day of the Week helpful in its position to the right of the Indoor Temperature...If you would like to change their positions I suggest you call La Cross at 1-608-782-1610 and speak with Angie their Tech Rep...She was greatly helpful in setting up my 3 La Cross WS-8115U Atomic Clocks...
• This clock will not show the seconds. Refer to the setup instructions on the web for all display options.
#lacrosseQUESTION: DOES THIS CLOCK HAVE ALASKA TIME?
• I have had that clock for just a couple of months & the outdoor temperature already crapped out, I would not recommend.
• YES...it sure does :-) and it's very easy to set up. ALA --> Alaska Time
• It has atomic clock feature so let it set up itself. ?
#lacrosseQUESTION: THE NUMBERS KEEP FADING IN AND OUT. WHAT CAUSES THIS?
• I have had 2 of these weather station/thermometer units - one of them kind of acted like you are describing - yours might be a battery issue (assume you tried changing the battery to a new/fresh battery - if that doesn't stabilize it for you, your unit is likely like mine - dying or failing. Hope this helps - albeit likely not the news you were looking for..... ;-)
• If a battery change doesn't fix that then call the 800 number on the back and talk to tech support. I have never had that problem with any of my La Crosse clocks....yet!
• mine doesn't do that unless it needs the battery changed
#lacrosse![Atomic Atomic](/uploads/1/2/5/6/125604509/620641123.jpg)
• The clock is not illuminated...and it it does not weigh very much...therefore it is very 'light'
• This clock like all wall clocks, depends on the ambient room illumination. It is neither very heavy.
• Lightweight, but no built-in light for viewing in the dark.
#lacrosseQUESTION: MY OUTSIDE TEMP HAS STOPPED AND DONE EVERYTHING TO GET IT BACK BUT STILL NO TEMP
• Try replacing the 3 AAA batteries in the sensor. Good luck getting the case open.
• Mine did that because the little metal tab that touches the battery broke off. I was able to put it in there with a piece of foil behind it and it worked for a while.
• That is the reason I'm on my third clock, they all did this and all were different brands. Sure hope this one continues to work...sorry I was no help but thought you should know this seems to be a common problem.
• On the outdoor sensor there is a small reset button - in center lower of front - push it
#lacrosse• As long as there is some way to place a screw into the basement walls or any interior surfaces, you should be OK.
• You can hang the clock anywhere as long as the outdoor transmitter is, well, outdoors
#lacrosseQUESTION: WHAT FUNCTIONS ON THIS MODEL?
• Time including seconds, outside temp, day, date, outside temp.
• every feature works as promised. we have this smaller model used on my desk plus an earlier, slightly larger model hanging on bathroom wall. one outside sensor is located on a north wall and the other on south side. what a difference between temps due to texas sunshine! initial setup is not as simple or fast for the unit to plot its location... we had to read carefully and just be patient for it to find its correct location and sync ..... wonderful product!
• Was not very happy. .. Ouside temperature didn't work.
#lacrosse• About 9' wide by 7' tall
• It is 9' (left to right) and 7 1/2' (top to bottom)
• 11 x 9. 9 is depth
#lacrosseQUESTION: CAN IT BE AS USED DESK CLOCK
• Yes if you have room. I is the size of a large 4X6 frame. It could also be hung on the wall.
• No... plus its not showing outside temperature
• It can be used as a desk clock. If you look at the linked manual in the Product Details section, there's a diagram showing retractable 'legs' for the clock to stand on a surface.
• No. It can not be used as a wall clock or table. It does not work.
• Yes, I think it could. You would know the time plus the temp. Inside and out. I feel that you could put it anywhere that is convient for you.
• Yes, it has fold out legs for standing on a desk
#lacrosse• It was a gift so I don't have it here and I don't know if it has a stand.
• Yes it does. Two small legs fold out to make it stand up.
#lacrosseQUESTION: MY CLOCK HAS THE WRONG TIME. ANY SUGGESTIONS?
• Check you batteries. You may have to change your batteries. When you get your clock at first I set mine. Then after that when the batteries need change but your batteries then just hang your clock. The clock will set it self.
• Send it back and get your money back, they suck. There is no fix. Lacross shoild be put out of Busness
• Have you pressed the correct time zone button on the back side? If I remember correctly it defaults to eastern time zone.
• Just trashed the clock . The battery started leaking . Simply a bad product
#lacrosse• Since the clock did not come with batteries, I used Enegirzer. I've only had the clock for a few months but, it is still ticking.
#lacrosseQUESTION: WHAT IS THE AMAZON ASIN NUMBER FOR THIS PRODUCT?
